We are Asthma Specialist because we limit our practice to the treatment of Asthma (and other Allergic Diseases).

Asthma is a disease characterized by difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath. Asthma affects the airway tubes that carry air into your lungs. Asthma is  caused by inflammation which makes these airways hypersensitive. When exposed to asthma triggers the airways swell up, constrict and get plugged with thick sticky mucus. Asthma symptoms may be continuous, intermittent or appear only with triggers such as exercise, allergen exposure (such as to house dust, pollens, molds, dogs, cats and sometimes foods), upper respiratory infections, certain seasons, weather change etc.. Acute asthma exacerbations can be serious and if allowed to progress, sometimes fatal.

Asthma Treatment starts with detailed evaluation of medical history, physical examination, allergy evaluation, pulmonary function tests, and if necessary, x-rays or ct scans to establish the diagnosis and severity of your asthma. Appropriate Asthma Controller and Rescue Inhalers are prescribed and proper management of allergies including allergen avoidance and allergy injections if needed.

Thus Ongoing management and control of asthma along with early self management of exacerbations under supervision of an Asthma Specialist is the best way to keep the disease under check.

How do I know if I have Asthma?

As mentioned above many patients have few or no chronic symptoms, or they have symptoms but they are not recognized as asthma. To find out if you may have Asthma (or Allergies) take this  Asthma Self Test  and see if we can be of service to you.
